The Hip Hop/Urban Stage at Boise Music Festival 2016
There are so many talented artists making their way to perform at the Hip Hop/Urban stage at this year's Boise Music Festival! Here's an in-depth look at the artists playing this year!
The Gingerbread Man, AKA Angel Garcia, is a recent high school graduate who is a current student at CWI and is taking the stage several times throughout Boise Music Festival, playing brief sets at 11 AM, 12:45 PM, 3 PM and 5:20 PM. He currently is majoring in business and plans to continue his education to major in music engineering. He was in kindergarten when he first discovered his love for music and he enjoys playing all kinds of different genres, from hip hop to dub step.
Performing at 11:15 AM, Griffin House is a father and son duo from Meridian, Idaho who are known for their high energy live performances. Having collaborated with several local and national artists, the duo has played several shows around the Treasure Valley and has opened for many artists over the last couple of years.
Jordan Yocum, AKA Axiom Tha Wyze, began recording his first tracks in 2009 at the College of Idaho. It wasn't until the 2013 release of his and Andy O's Smoke Room League Mixtape and the co-current formation of both the The Earthlings hip hop/rap group and the Earthlings Entertainment Label that he began to make big waves in the Idaho hip hop scene. He will be taking the stage at 11:45 AM.
Michael Summers, AKA MIC.ILL, began rapping in 2005 and started the group M.O.C. with his friend and fellow MC Tonethebone in 2006. As a solo artist, he's released two albums and will be performing at the Hip Hop/Urban stage at 12:15 PM.
Playing at 1:15 PM, B4G first started recording music at the young age of just eleven and has opened up for artists such as Bow Wow, B2K and Rocko in Canada and England. He's now twenty-two and is located in Boise where he studied broadcast journalism at BSU.
Performing at 1:50 PM, Cornell Johnson, AKA Zero is a hip hop based artist from Boise, Idaho whose music is influenced by artists such as Talib Kweli, Mos Def and Common. He's shared the stage with artists such as Tech N9ne, Hopsin, Dizzy Wright, T. Millis and Gonzoe.
At 2:25 PM, Illest* Experience will be taking the stage, sharing their live hip hop sound with the Boise Music Festival audience. The group has several seasoned musicians including Joshua Dangerfield on guitar, Nathan Harper on drums, Travis Capps on bass guitar and turntablist Chucky Norris.
Ready Starr takes the stage at 3:15 PM and has performed with national artists such as Coolio, Snoop Dogg and LL Cool J. His single 'Paradise' has gained national and international radio play and is best known for his role in the Boise hip-hop group Mad Ro. He's sold nearly 40,000 albums independently and has helped bring a national spotlight to the City of Trees.
Performing at 4 PM, Big O will be taking the Hip Hop/Urban stage, bringing their alternative hip hop/punk rock sound to the Boise Music Festival! Big O is a three piece group from Caldwell, Idaho who have toured all over the Northwest and have shared the stage with Sir Mix-A-lot, Mega Ran, Switchfoot and Family Force Five.
Playing at the Hip Hop/Urban stage at 4:45 PM, Freedom Renegades are a duo who have performed with several different artists including Myka 9, Afro Man, LL Cool J, Cunninglyguists, Gift of Gab and Kirco Bangs. They have also toured in Oregon, Nevada, Utah and Washington.
Cuts will be taking the stage at 5:45 PM, bringing a unique blend of hip hop and soul to the Boise Music Festival! The trio is heavily influenced by jazz music and also incorporates hip hop and R&B into their music. Based in Boise, Idaho, the trio put on raw, intimate live acoustic sets that are beat driven. Bounce House is the final act to take the stage, performing at 6:45 PM.
